When our bodies can not handle too much discomfort due to vaginal pain then the most important thing to do is to take it to the doctor to do his job. Although women are said to be the weaker sex, this can be considered ironic reflecting on the pain she has to go through with the birthing process only to be reciprocated by some undeserving punches by the so-called father after reporting home at the morning. As if this pain is not sufficient, she then has to deal with intolerable in the same wretched organ after the birth either internally or externally.

Vaginal pain is experienced typically during sexual intercourse. A considerable vaginal pain case can be linked to a health problem that would automatically demand medical intervention. I have seen many women suffering bladder problems after giving birth and they have reported having experience dire lower belly pain and lower back pain. This will then progress to the vagina when passing urine or having sexual intercourse. Nonetheless the vaginal pain could be complicated by leading a stressful life style resulting to anxiety and emotional strain. So in fact the major effect of one experiencing vaginal pain is sexual dysfunction which might result to marital infections.

Chronic vaginal pain possible causes of symptoms include ovarian cysts, endometrial and cervical cancers, pelvic inflammatory disease, and uterine fibroid among others. But then when one can exactly spot the parts and after what actions they become very painful then seeing a doctor will be the next important step. There some women who experience extreme pain during their periods in form of cramps. However one experiences severe pain in the pelvic bone, rectal pain during bowel movement, bloody spots on the stool, these should be enough reasons to seek medical intervention.

If by any chance if he blames any vaginal infection for this vaginal pain, then the next step must be the one of treating the underlying causes. One may opt to take the doctor’s prescription in the hospitable, purchase the over the counter medication or decide on what indoor remedy to use. Whichever one chooses the aim should to get better any way. Due to these vaginal infections the victims might experience painful abrasions and pain that automatically results to vaginal pain.

The yogurt is one of the best remedy that could be used to sooth these abrasions and inflammations both externally and internally. It should be easy to apply because one need only to trace a pot of plain yogurt and then dip a tampon there and then inserts it inside. He must also massage some of it over his vaginal walls and the swollen vulva. The other important herbal remedy is garlic that should be inserted as a clove or rubbed to the sores. Others include the cranberries, tree oil, and aloe Vera among others. What is more a woman must discontinue sex when she is experiencing vaginal pain until the symptoms subsides. She must also ensure good hygiene practices so as prevent persistent vaginal infections causing vaginal pain.

Question: Why do I have rectal pain with periods?
For the past 4 months of my cycles, I have had extremely heavy periods with excruciating rectal pain. I wear a menstrual cup to catch up all the blood, because tampons and heavy pads don’t work enough anymore. It feels like someone is shoving a knife up my rectum. I can hardly walk and I get shooting pains that make me have to stop quickly and hold onto something. Bowel movements are painful, too. My rectum feels tight and full, almost like I have to have a bowel movement, but I don’t. This pain is ruining my life. I’ve never had it before.

I had a laparoscopy in Feb due to a different problem and it came up clear. I also have a colonoscopy after this first started in Oct. and it also came up clear. I have seen a colorectal surgeon and my gyno many times about this problem, and neither one knows what the heck is wrong with me.

Today, when the pain was really bad, I don’t know what made me think of it, but I felt up inside my rectum just to see if I could feel what was causing the pain. I curled my fingers forward toward my vagina, and the wall of my vagina was hard, swollen, and painful to the touch. I pushed on it, and sure enough, there was the pain and spasms I’d been feeling, the same pain I feel in my rectum. I put my menstrual cup in just to make sure, and yep, it was my vaginal wall. I could feel it through my rectum.

I am now convinced it has something to do with my reproductive organs. Can anyone tell me what might be causing this pain and pressure in my rectum? It seems to definitely be a gynecological problem, but my gyno says it isn’t. Please help. Could it be fibroids or something?

Answer by Jay-Jay
Could it be an issue with the cervix – not so much a problem as much of an issue of position.

The reason I suggest it is because sometimes during my period my cervix can sit backwards, causing discomfort in my rectum or additional cramps and making going to the bathroom for #2 somewhat difficult – you would have been able to feel this via the rectum wall/vaginal wall, it may have felt hard, also tender because…well…generally your cervix is tender that time of the month.

Any possibility that this cup is too wide or sitting too low? I know some women who use softcups, and for whom softcups are too wide, the cup can push against that back wall causing pain – like if you were to put pressure on any part of your body or skin, the pain may last a few days. If sitting too low it could also be pressing on you that way too.

Possible hormonal and bowel connection too – IBS is common in women, worse during menstruation, also certain brands/types of hormonal contraceptive can trigger off bad IBS, and if there is a hormonal disruption it would explain both the menstrual problems and pain – certainly if this isn’t the problem I would still suggest trying to regulate hormones with chaste tree to help with the flow, and changing your diet to deal with possible IBS, heavy flow…and frankly even if you have no IBS a diet change may be helpful when you’re feeling like this anyway!

Without knowing more they would be my guesses, my feelings also go more towards endometriosis than fibroids – I know it would be unusual for uterine tissue to grow around the vagina or rectum area, but then the laparoscopy and colonoscopy would have ruled that out anyway…same with fibroids. I would say to get a second opinion, it is very tough because A. not all gynos are all that great to begin with, and B. sometimes we ladies do get mysterious pains no one can explain -_-
