IVF Implantation Versus Infertility

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

In-vitro fertilization also known as IVF includes that of fertilizing the human egg cell in a lab and implanting the embryo or the fertilized egg inside the womb or uterus of a woman for having regular pregnancy and birth.Every now and then, an embryo that results from an in-vitro fertilization is frozen to be used later for IVF implantation.

In vitro fertilization is a procedure for women who usually have a difficulty getting pregnant. The procedure is a great aid for conception and for a normal term of pregnancy. The procedure can also be applied for preventing transmission of hereditary diseases.Fertilization will not take place in the test tube but in a small container which is also known as perti dish.

Test tube baby is the most famous name for the baby that resulted from an in-vitro fertilization. There are some procedures you can follow to produce a test tube baby.First would be to gather the eggs from the woman. But even before they are collected, the woman has to take some medicines to stimulate the ovulation process. When the eggs are ripe, the surgeon performs an operation to remove them.

The next phase of IVF implantation involves the fertilization of the egg and its development in the laboratory. After the egg has been removed, they are taken straight to the laboratory, where they are placed in a special fluid for six hours. Then the partner or a sperm donor supplies the sperm specimen. This should take place at least 4 hours after the eggs have been collected. The sperm must have special washing and incubation. They are then mixed with the eggs and left for around 18 hours. In following the procedure, the eggs are then observed if fertilization has taken place. They are then returned to culture for another twenty four hours.

Following the fertilization procedure, the grown fertilized egg will be transferred to the woman’s uterus. For minimizing the risk of multiple pregnancies, only a few of the eggs are returned to the woman.
