Well, don't kill yourself over this. I was just diagnosed with a fibroid last month. It is 4.2 cm big. I am 36 and choosing to have a partial hysterectomy in Jan. You just need to decide how bad you want your uterus. If you need surgery again, tell you doctor how painful the last one was and your concerns about it. Your pain should have been controlled really well before you left the hospital. Good luck to you.
If you do decide to go for a hysterectomy instead of a myomectomy, check out this website www.hystersisters.com It has a lot of information on.

Of course you will be fine and you will be taken care of very well. While you are there you should tell the nurses how you feel so they can help you feel better. That's what they do so don't be shy. But I think this will help you. This is a very strange idea, but if you watch a video or tv special on near-death-experiences, it will make you feel very peaceful and not worry. The people who have near death experiences have very loving, serene experiences involving feelings of ultimate peace and love, and afterwords they are not afraid to die. Almost all near death experiences are exactly alike. When I watch people talk about them, it reconfirms that everything is going to be okay, no matter what. It sounds silly but it takes away all my worries.

I had invasive surgery on Monday and i was absolutley scared out of my mind. Do things to keep yourself busy before the surgery and do not think about it, or think about how scared you are. Talk with friends about anything other than your upcoming surgery, watch light hearted and funny movies (this really helped me) and just be prepared so yo feel in control. But i guarentee you, as soon as you are in the hospital, you will just want to get it over with and you wont even be scared anymore. Its the waiting that causes the most anxiety. Good Luck with your surgery, you will be fine!

It's natural to be nervous. The people in the hospital are professionals and will take good care of you. Nothing bad will happen to your home or your family while you're away and your surgery will be fine. I know it's scary but the surgery must be fairly safe or your doctor wouldn't have recommended you get it done.

If you already stopped your pills then most likely it is from that since you said you have been on it 8 years. However you say you don't have cysts but every month every women that is a natural born woman in her fertile years develops cysts as eggs mature then one pops and releases an egg, I had 3 different doctors tell me that as well as researching on the internet. In rare cases the cyst does not burst and continues to grow. I never knew I had cysts until I got an ultrasound done for cramping and irregular periods. So unless you had an ultrasound recently you cannot rule out anything. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor and let them know what is going on.

Hi - this is a strange, sad story and one that makes me question the 'care' that 'they' have been giving you.

NO gynaecologist or doctor worth his or her salt, would leave a young woman like you with the options of painful sexual intercourse or no intercourse at all. This is not tolerable practice and it is not GOOD practice.

I would be getting slightly irritated (to say the least) about their concept of 'can't do it, won't do it', and I would be asking for them to consider me for any treatments that are available (that would still leave me with a good chance of future pregnancy) that would shrink the fibroid to the point where intervention would be possible. You need to actually say the words 'this is intolerable and my life is being affected by this lack of action on my behalf'.

Your call.

Good luck.
--------------
regarding your update: is there any chance you could just throw caution (and some dreams) to the wind, and decide to start a family now with your partner? So many women talk themselves out of a baby, by over-discussing it and over-worrying about how they will 'cope'. We ALWAYS cope. My own sister delayed trying to get pregnant in favour of a good job and a nice home (she has endometriosis) - she was strongly advised to get pregnant as soon as possible (pregnancy severely disrupts or destroys endometriosis), and yet should just wouldn't commit to a baby - it was always 'later'. Later never came, of course. The endometriosis had left her infertile. Twenty is a fine age to have a baby or start preparations for having one (in your case, those preparations would include dealing with your fibroid). You will never be as young, strong and healthy as you are now, and therefore your chances of a good recovery from your surgery are high. If you CAN, go for it, whilst you still can. All the best again.
