Hi i am 17 and me my mother and my stepfather as long as my baby brother on the way, are having to deal with the facts that as of maybe next month becomeing homeless. My mother works a partime job as a dental hygenist, she is currently pregrant and is considered a high risk pregnancy because she has something called uteral fibroids in her uteral wall. she has no choice but to have a C section and on top of that under go a surgery after birth to remove the 3 fibroids from her uterus. I have a 2 jobs but it wouldnt even come close to being able to hold things down for a while, i also am going to join the coast guard,
i know that that will give a helping hand, but thats not right now. and i would need to wait until after i did my 2 months of training that has no type of effect on what is to come as of next month. Anyway, my step father has no job and it is very hard for him to get one because he currently does not have his highschool diploma and has been trying to get his G.E.D for a while. Still hasnt happened. I’m still in highschool and i am despertaly trying to contribute in some form or fashion to the bills but i dont make enough to do anything. My stepfather is trying to get a job thru something called the ERG and they are getting him a job. We will have no choice when the end of next month to go to a shelter, im in my senior year, and i have a passionate goal to join the coast guard,
what can we do so that we can keep our place or maybe at least stay in the same area for the two months that the doctor said my mother has to stay home from work. She doesnt make any type of income until that two month period is done because she works PART TIME and part time positions really dont give maternity leave to anyone. Thank you very much please we will be in the street with a newborn baby i would hate to leave my mother and baby brother in the street for the two months that i am gone for training but there is no point of staying in the street with them if after the two months of my training i can help them in a very big way.

You don’t say where you live. In the U.S.? If yes, go to social services to get help until you can get things in order. Ask for emergency short term (temporary assistance). Welfare, food stamps, what ever they will give you. Salvation Army will assist you with minimum amount of food. Go to Soup kitchens or/and food pantries. Contact the red cross for housing.
When it comes to hospital bills, again in the U.S., there is the Hill-Burton Act of 1946. It basically says that any HOSPITAL that receives Federal Aid, must give a specified amount of FREE or REDUCED COST care every year. You tell the hospital’s accounts receivable dept that you want to apply for assistance from Hill-Burton. You will have to fill out paperwork telling your income, and tax returns. Then they decide how much to reduce your bill.
